Gather Greenville gears up for grand opening

GREENVILLE, S.C. —

Gather Greenville will soon open its (shipping container) doors. The outdoor food hall, located within walking distance from Fluor Field, will offer 13 new dining options for foodies in downtown.

The project is the brain child of father and son Doug and Mack Cross and has been in the works for over three years.

"Many seasoned construction folks and industry people have said 'we’ve never been a part of something so challenging', so we have certainly grown personally and professionally through this venture,” said Mack.

Thirteen different restaurants, each housed inside a brightly colored shipping container, will offer affordable bites and drinks ranging from acai bowls to fried chicken and waffles.

But beyond the food, a philosophy. The co-owners say they hope their new venture will encourage people to put down their cellphones and allow them to connect with one another.

“It’s meant to be a place where you’re bumping elbows with strangers and interacting and having conversations," Mack said. "Meeting new people and just enjoying being together.”

Gather Greenville expects to open in early to mid February.
