When crowds first flooded into the open-air food hall concept Gather GVL last February, none could have imagined that the concept’s very namesake, “gather,” would soon be a word that called to mind public health paranoia.

Now one year later, after COVID-19 lockdowns and a public legal spat over lease agreements between Gather GVL’s owner and its tenants, the food hall is seeing some tenants leave and some new concepts open up.

TENANTS LEAVING

West End Coffee, coffee shop

Rocky Moo, ice cream sandwiches

Sweet Sippin, wine bar (moving to new brick-and-mortar spot on Augusta Road later this year)

Prost!, German fast-casual cuisine

Prost! owner Harald Schmidt said he was sad to see this chapter close, but he is planning for a “next adventure” in the future.

“We celebrate having had the chance to serve the Greenville community and share our love for German food and beer with all of you,” Schmidt said on social media. “But it is time for Prost! to move forward in search of new beginnings. It’s not a goodbye, this is a see you again!”

As for new tenants joining the food hall, those include:

Myami Bites, a Cuban-American concept specializing in cubanos, empanadas and “myami vibes,” according to its Instagram account. Myami Bites which will take over the smaller “incubator spot” currently occupied by The Pasta Addict.

The Pasta Addict, which specializes in homemade Italian pasta, will be taking over the former Rocky Moo spot.

Yolo Pizza Kitchen, a new pizza concept from Tacozzina founder Amy Rinkoski, will take over the former Prost! spot.

Juice Box, a wine bar concept from Greenville Beer Exchange owner Devin Cox, will be taking over the Sweet Sippin’ space.

Expect the new concepts to be open this spring.
